Hello, Jacksonville! Let me introduce myself, I am Becky Breedlove. I am a wife to a Marine, mother to a 5 year old boy and photographer for you. I would love to share my passion for photographic art with you! So far, Jacksonville has treated us nice...besides all of the rain that has turned our yard into a mud pit. LOL
I am so sorry...I seemed to have neglected my blog! I have a facebook page was well that is easier to post on than this blog, but I will do better to post here too.

Thank you all so much for your support and loyalty! My family and I will be moving to Jacksonville, NC this week, then we have a wonderful trip to Disney World planned. Taylor's first fish! This was our second time fishing, but we didn't catch anything the first time. It was much bigger in person =) Oak Grove Lake in Chesapeake, VA.

Taylor was "Star Student" this week at school. He did a paper about himself that was displayed in the hallway, then this weekend he got to take Clifford, the class' mascot, home with him. We wrote in Clifford's journal about the things we did this weekend, including Safety Day at the Farmer's Market and church. I didn't take the camera along on Safety Day because of a threat of rain...so we just did a quick photo inside.

Around Christmas 2008, I had a session with the K Family that we had to cancel because of very heavy wind and we weren't able to coordinate calendars to reschedule then. We got Taylor a loft bed and he thinks he is super big in it! You can't see in the pic, but it has a desk on one side where we set up his computer, and shelves and drawers on the other side for toys and clothes. It takes up ALOT of room in his bedroom right now, but it should be a nice fit for his room in the new house!

What an interesting session this was! It was a beautiful, hot day...and I was very worried that my pregnant mommy H would get too hot. We were able to manage the heat just fine, it was the huge swarm of carnivorous flies that was the problem! Insects LOVE me for some reason...the dad was standing behind me swatting the flies off my legs as I was taking photos of H! We were still able to get some great photos though, and I have learned that OFF goes with me not just to the park, but to the beach too!

Just alittle Photoshop work

I want to take a moment to show some Photoshop work. Many clients ask me if I can correct acne, boo-boos and other "imperfections" in Photoshop. My answer is YES! I love the challenge as well, so don't be afraid to ask.
This particular edit was a challenge at first, but I quickly learned how to fix it. The model below had corrective eye surgery just a few days before and had a very red eye as a result. She was worried about how it would look and I told her I would try my best to fix it. I think the end result is pretty good...What do you think?

We painted pottery at Potts and Paints with our playgroup. Taylor picked an ice cream cone box...the ice cream lifts off the cone so you can put things in the cone. He painted his ice cream green with "sprinkles".

The C Family was here in Virginia Beach on vacation and visiting family, and wanted to have family portraits on the beach. Thank yall for putting up with me while I was sick! I would normally reschedule a session if I'm sick, but with this family on vacation and here for just a few days, there wasn't much room for rescheduling! So I headed to the beach with cough drops and tissue. I hope yall had a wonderful vacation!

We had the opportunity to vacation for a couple of days with my husband's parents and grandmother in Pigeon Forge, TN. Here we are in front of the hotel we stayed at. We had a fabulous time and Taylor is still talking about the aquarium in Gatlinburg!

The day after we returned from our TN trip, James officially received his Associate's Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. We are so proud of you!

I had the great priviledge of working with the F Family again...the first time working with them was Christmas 2008. This session was much easier because we weren't FREEZING like we were at Christmas!
We originally met at the Buckroe Beach park, but the park was very crowded. So we piled in their car and drove down a couple of blocks to a public beach in a residential area. We had the entire area to ourselves! Here are some previews from this session...the girls really love the camera! They worked it LOL and so beautiful! Hopefully next time little brother won't try to eat the sand and seashells =)

We will be moving! Many of you know that we have been waiting on news of upcoming orders...well, we finally know when and where: We report to MCAS New River (Jacksonville) North Carolina this December! I am only taking sessions through October 25. November will be a big month for us as I will be working on finishing October's sessions, getting things ready to pack, Taylor's 5th birthday, and *maybe* a trip to DisneyWorld Thanksgiving week...then we will be outta here the first couple of weeks in December. We are also planning to BUY OUR FIRST HOME, so man...this will be a busy fall/winter time!

LOTS of emotions are running through me right now...I am sad to leave Hampton Roads! I have so many loyal photography clients and friends here and I thank you all for your support! But I am also looking forward to the challenge of starting over in a new town and the many adventures this will bring for both my family and business.

These pictures are of the same baby on different days! At the first session, he refused to go to sleep. So that and other factors, we decided to make another try a few days later. The fact that I am a stay at home mother really helps with flexibility and I am more than happy to reschedule free of charge when things aren't working the way we want the first time around!
Mommy made the onesie using an iron on transfer. What a great idea!

I want to take a moment to mention a book that a childhood friend of mine just had published. Amanda and I grew up just about 5 or 6 miles apart...I even dated her brother David, but I had no idea the terrible things they endured by the hands of their father. Amanda is an amazing survivor of abuse and has documented not only the abuse suffered, but the long road to healing. 52 weeks of my little man Taylor

Since I just reopened the blog, I need to catch everyone up on the 52 weeks project I started in January. Every week this year, I will take 1 picture of my son. I am going to compile the project into an album at the end of the year and present to his grandparents (as well as keep an album for us!). I've done 5 weeks so far...enjoy!

Welcome to the grand RE-opening of the Official Becky Breedlove Photography Blog. Here, I will update readers on news and specials and post personal and client pictures.

For those of you that have never heard of me, I am a photographer in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia that specializes in maternity, newborn, baby, child and family portraits. I am an on-location photographer, meaning, I come to you! I will travel to Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth and other locations in the Tidewater area.

I do not have a studio, so you don't have to worry about scary bright lights and enclosed spaces! Virginia has beautiful natural scenery...I love to take advantage of the gorgeous beaches and parks. I can do indoor photos for you as well!
